Content marketing agency in Chennai: what you actually get
By Boobesh AG, founder of Gari Tech, content marketing agency in Chennai
The short answer: a content marketing agency decides what your business should say, who it should say it to and in what order, then produces that content across the channels your customers use. It is not the same as posting on your Instagram. I run one, Gari Tech in Chennai, so this is written from the inside.
What a content marketing agency does
Under the name, the work usually falls into five jobs.
- Strategy. Who is the customer, what do they worry about, what do we want them to do next. Everything else hangs off this.
- Planning. A content calendar that survives a busy week, not one that looks lovely on the first Monday and is abandoned by the third.
- Making things. Posts, Reels scripts, video editing, newsletters, blog articles, posters, landing pages.
- Distribution. Getting the work in front of people on LinkedIn, Instagram, YouTube, email and search.
- Learning. Looking at what worked, saying it plainly, and changing the plan.
If an agency only does the third job, it is a production studio. That can be exactly what you need, but call it what it is.
What the first 90 days should look like
This is what I think a sensible start looks like, whichever agency you pick.
Weeks 1 to 2: listen and look. The agency reads what you already publish, talks to you and your customers, and looks at what your competitors say. You should be asked a lot of questions.
Weeks 3 to 4: decide. You agree on the one clear message, two or three channels to focus on and a small set of content types. Fewer channels done well beat six done badly.
Weeks 5 to 8: publish and watch. Real content goes out. Early numbers are noisy, so the point of this phase is to learn which topics get replies, saves and enquiries.
Weeks 9 to 12: adjust. Double down on what worked, drop what did not, and set targets that actually match your business, such as enquiries or bookings, instead of follower counts.
Anyone promising big results in the first two weeks is selling you something.
Content marketing versus social media marketing
They overlap, which is why people confuse them. Social media marketing is about running your accounts. Content marketing is about the ideas underneath, which then appear on social media and also on your website, in your emails and in search. I go into this properly in content marketing vs social media marketing.
Who benefits most
Content marketing pays off slowly, so it fits businesses that sell something people think about before buying: education, health and counselling, professional services, fitness, software, personal brands. If you need sales this week, paid ads will move faster, and content will make those ads work better later.
Services a content marketing company in Chennai may offer
Different agencies bundle things differently, so read the list carefully. A full service might include:
- Content strategy and audience research. Working out who you are speaking to and what they care about.
- Editorial calendar. A plan of what goes out, on which channel and when.
- Copywriting. Posts, captions, website copy and newsletters.
- Video and Reels. Scripts, shooting direction and editing, especially for Instagram and YouTube.
- Design. Posters, carousels and brand visuals.
- Blog and SEO content. Articles written to answer the questions people search.
- Social media management. Posting, replying and community care.
- Paid promotion. Meta Ads support behind the content that is already working.
- Reporting. A plain monthly summary of what worked.
At Gari Tech we cover most of these for startups and small businesses, and we are open about what we do not do.
What a month of work can look like
This is an illustration of how a monthly plan might be shaped, not a price list or a promise of volume.
- A calendar agreed with you before the month starts.
- A handful of short videos or Reels, scripted and edited.
- A set of posts or carousels for the channels you chose.
- One longer piece, such as an article or a newsletter, that the shorter pieces link back to.
- A short review call at the end to look at what worked.
The exact numbers depend on your goals, your team and the business, and any agency should set them with you.
Which channels matter
- LinkedIn works well for founders, professionals, education and B2B services.
- Instagram works well for consumer brands, food, fitness, design and local businesses.
- YouTube rewards patience and suits topics people study or research before buying.
- A newsletter turns readers into an audience you own, whatever the platforms do.
- Your website and blog are where search engines and AI assistants find you, and where people decide whether to trust you.
You do not need all of them. Choosing two and doing them consistently beats spreading thin.
How content marketing supports SEO
Search engines reward pages that answer real questions clearly. Good content marketing produces exactly that: articles, guides and pages written for what your customers actually ask. Over time, that brings people to your website without paying for each visit. It is also what AI assistants pull from when they answer questions about your field. So content marketing and SEO are not competitors. Content is the material, and SEO is making sure it can be found.
Industries in Chennai that benefit
Content marketing works best when people research before they buy. In Chennai that includes education and coaching, counselling and health services, fitness studios, restaurants and cafes, real estate, IT and software services, professional services and personal brands. If your customers ever search for answers before buying, content can help.
Common misunderstandings
- "We will go viral." Virality is luck. Consistency is a strategy.
- "Content marketing is just posting." Posting is the last step.
- "More channels is better." More channels done badly is worse than fewer done well.
- "We will see sales in two weeks." Content compounds. Give it a quarter.
- "The agency will do everything." You still need to give feedback, share real stories and answer questions.
How to brief a content marketing agency
A good brief saves weeks. Write down:
- What your business does, in two sentences.
- Who your best customer is, and what they worry about.
- What you want people to do after seeing your content.
- Three competitors or brands you admire and why.
- What has worked and not worked before.
- Any words, topics or claims to avoid.
If you cannot answer these yet, a decent agency will help you work them out. That is part of the strategy work.
Frequently asked questions
What is a content marketing agency?
A content marketing agency plans and produces the content, such as posts, videos, articles and newsletters, that builds trust with your future customers. It decides what to say as well as making it.
What does a content marketing agency in Chennai cost?
It varies with scope, so any honest agency will ask questions before quoting. Decide what a new customer is worth to you and how many you need, then compare proposals by what is included.
How long does content marketing take to work?
Expect to publish consistently for about three months before judging. You may see small signals such as replies and saves sooner, and enquiries usually follow later.
Is content marketing better than paid ads?
They do different jobs. Ads buy attention quickly and stop when you stop paying. Content builds slowly and keeps working. They work best together.
Who runs Gari Tech, the content marketing agency in Chennai?
Boobesh AG founded and runs Gari Tech, which he started in February 2024. You can read more on the Gari Tech page.
Can a small business afford a content marketing company?
Often yes, if you start small: one channel, one clear message, a simple calendar. Many small businesses begin with a trial project to see whether the working relationship fits before committing to more.
What to ask before you hire one
I wrote a full checklist in how to choose a marketing agency in Chennai. The three questions that matter most are: who does the work, can I see something similar to mine, and what do you need from me each week.
Why I do this
I started reselling online when I was 15, long before I knew the word marketing, and I have since led marketing at Tribe Fortis and content at Your College Senior. Content marketing is the part of the job where being patient beats being clever. If you want to see what Gari Tech does, that page lists the services, the websites built and what clients have said. More about me is at Boobesh AG.
